The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare reported a significant increase in summer crop sowing, reaching 83.93 lakh hectares by the end of last month. Compared to last year, this marks a 9.21 lakh hectare expansion. Rice production has seen a rise of 4.80 lakh hectares to 35.86 lakh hectares, while pulses have increased by 2.77 lakh hectares to 24.25 lakh hectares. Notably, greengram and blackgram have shown substantial growth within the pulses category. Coarse cereals and oilseeds have also experienced growth, with maize and groundnut showing notable increases.
