BSF Stops Beating Retreat Ceremonies Along Pak Border

by PoliNexus

The Border Security Force (BSF) has ceased Beating Retreat ceremonies at three border check posts in Punjab along the Pakistan border– Attari-Wagah, Hussainiwala, and Sadki– due to public safety concerns. The daily lowering of the national flag at sunset will continue as normal, according to a BSF statement. The decision was made following India’s destruction of nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoJK) in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists. Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor to target terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and PoJK. The strikes targeted nine key terror camps associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting to review national preparedness and inter-ministerial coordination in light of recent security developments. The meeting emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among ministries and agencies to ensure operational continuity and institutional resilience. Secretaries were instructed to review their ministries’ operations and enhance readiness, emergency response, and internal communication protocols. The meeting was attended by Cabinet Secretary, officials from the PM’s Office, and Secretaries from key ministries. PM Modi stressed the need for alertness, synergy, and clear communication to uphold national security and citizen safety during this sensitive period. The government remains committed to national security and operational preparedness.
