India’s Strategic Plan: Squeezing Pakistan’s Economy to Combat Terrorism

by PoliNexus

The recent terrorist attack has left India in shock, but it presents an opportunity to target the flow of arms and funds to Pakistan. India must undermine the influence of Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir, especially after his anti-Hindu speech on April 16.

To combat terrorism effectively, India should urge the US, Russia, and China to halt arms sales to Pakistan and cut off financial support to Rawalpindi. Major funders like Saudi Arabia and the UAE must also be pressured to stop supporting a regime that fosters terrorism.

India has never fully utilized its market leverage on a global scale, but now it faces a security challenge that demands renegotiating several deals. For instance, if F-16 jet fighters are being used against India, India should ask the US to refrain from selling them to Pakistan.

Furthermore, India can use its influence to block Washington’s aid for Pakistan’s F-16 fleet as leverage. By strategically leveraging its market, political, and cultural influence, India can effectively deliver a long-term deterrence to Pakistan and its sponsors.
